The Drop
The Wall Under Your Fins
One reader of a dive forum put it as two steps into the water and over your head. The Drop draws what happens after: the floor from your pin out to the deep water, in section, on the bearing you choose.
Open the large editionHow it is drawn
From your pin the studio reads the grid every few hundred metres along the bearing, to the frame's edge. The section is drawn wide, with the depth stood up eight, twelve or twenty times: at true scale a 3,000 m canyon across 40 km would be a line a few millimetres deep.
Under it sits the plan view of the coast, the bearing drawn across it, and the distance from your pin to the point where the floor passes 200 m, the edge of the shelf.
Where it works best
Where the floor falls away fast: Nazaré, Kaikōura, Kona, the north coast of Puerto Rico, the Cayman wall. On a wide shelf like Cape Cod's the section runs a long way before anything happens, and the print says so in its figures.
What arrives: the print you set up in the studio, made to order and shipped to your door, or a print-ready file by email the same day.
