Every Source
Every print carries the credits for what it uses in its own margin. This page lists them all. The same list, with the day each was read, is at sources.json.

The scenes
The pictures of the sea and the people on it, on the home and collection pages, are made with OpenAI's gpt-image-2, and the moving sea at the top of the home page is a picture made the same way, panned slowly in ffmpeg. None shows a real place, person or customer, so none is offered as one. The second film is Monterey Bay's ten real plates, one dissolving into the next. The six rooms in Find Your Size are made with gpt-image-2 too; the print on each wall is a real Monterey Bay plate, set into the picture at true scale from the stated height of the person beside it. No generative model draws any print: every sheet comes from the grids above.
Not affiliated
Painted Deep is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA, NASA, the European Space Agency, the European Commission, the USDA, the USGS, GEBCO, the IHO, the IOC, the Flanders Marine Institute, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory or any government. No agency's logo appears on any print, and a place's name is used only to say which place is drawn.
